FLUCTUATIONS iN SHARES. NOT MANY SALES. BUT HEALTHIER, TONE. Although sales on the local Exchange have not been numerous since the noon call yesterday there has been a better tone apparent, and holders are showing more confidence. This was particularly noticeable in the tanking section at this morning's call, when there were buyers for practically every listed line and sellers lor only two. Australasias were offered at £11 7/6 and Unions at £9 2/6. Commercials were definitely firmer, with buyers at 17/4, and no seller. Other Australian stock also showed an improvement, £1 being offered for Goidsbrough, Morts, £1 11/6 for British Tobacco, and 17/10 for Mount Lyells. \ sale of New Zealand Breweries £2 5/ was recorded, with "still a buyer. The Noon Call. The firmness of the morning in regard to Australian securities was confirmed at the noon call. Nationals of Australasia, sold 2/6 higher than last week, and Mount Lyells at 18/ were 3/ up. There were few sellers of Banks, and buyers of Commercials rose to 17/6 without attracting a .selling quotation. There were buyers ior Electro. Zinc prefs. at 16/6, and for Henry Jones' at 21/3. Waihis and. Grand Junctions were both firm. A parcel of Government stocks, tax frees 1938, was ottered at £100 5/, and one of inscribed at 2/6 less. SALES COMPLETED. Last Sale. AT THE 3.15 P.M.
