Hall (Hauraki, Reform) said the petition was signed by some; of the leading farmers of the Waikato district, including several directors of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy' Co., not one of whom had any financial interest in the undertaking. The committee had been evenly divided,, and an amendment liad been moved that the petition" be referred to the Government, for consideration . with .a, recommendation thatthe Rotorua-Taupo line be included in the lines at present/being investigated by the Parliamentary Committee; but 'this had not been carried. The decision arrived at was reached on the casting vote of the chairman- Mr. Hall moved that the report be referred ,back to the committee for further consideration. How Members Voted.
