BUTTER FOR CANADA.

AUSTRALIAN EXPORT POfclCY. As a "token of good-will toward the Canadian Government and the dairying industry in Canada," the federal Ministry has decided to control the export of butter to that Dominion from the Commonwealth,, says the "Argus." No export of butter will be permitted during the coming Canadian winter season,- excepting under license from the Minister of Markets and under conditions that will preclude competition detrimental to Canadian butter. With the approval of the Commonwealth Dairy Produce Control Board an advisory board has been established in Canada to j recommend the quantities of butter that may be sent to Canada without embarrass- | ing the market there. This advisory board • will consist of the Australian trade commissioner in Canada (Mr. McGregor), a representative of the Canadian National Dairy Council, and a representative of the butter distributors in Canada. When making this announcement last week the Acting Minister of Markets (Mr. Forde) said that the friendly sentiment existing in Canada toward increasing her trade with Australia was greatly appreciiil' a • .1° desired to give an assurance that a similar teehng was reciprocated by Australia, particularly in regard to products embraced in the trade treaty between the two Dominions.
