WEEK-END PRICES IN SHOPS. egg market firming. APPLES CHEAP AXI) PLENTIFUL; Large quantities of eggs have been sold during the past week for preserving purposes, as the price was low. The demand for eggs is still strong, and as stocks were considerably reduced the tendency of the market is towards higher prices. Some establishments still quote lien eggs at 1/2 per dozen, but the average appears to be 1/3. Duck eggs are now 1/2 per dozen, and pullet eggs can still be got at 1/ per dozen. | Butter and cheese show .110 change in ! price, and the same remark applies to bacon and hams, pork, mutton, beef and veal. The market is heavily supplied with mandarins, oranges and lemons, while apples still are a cheap line. Fine sized Dougherty apples can be got at 3d per lb, but Granny Smiths still hold the market at od per lb, which is also the rate quoted for Wipesaps. White grapes are 8d to lil/ per lb, and purple are 1/2. Loquats being more plentiful this week are offered at 6d to 8d per lb.
