At a meeting of the Otago Expansion League, held to consider the situation that has arisen owing to the decision of the Eailway Department to cut out all Sunday trains on the Port Chalmers line, it was pointed out that while on the plea of economy the Department was breaking faith with and seriously inconveniencing its regular patrons, season; ticket-holders and daily travellers, it still continued to cater for Sunday travellers by excursion trains, at lower fares than those charged on the suburban services.
The Department sought to force all travellers from and to Port Chalmers to take its road service.
The secretary was instructed to forward a strongly-worded protest to the Minister of Railways, the Hon. W. A. Veitch. i«
