LAWN TENNIS.

BIRKDALE CLUB

The annual meeting of the Birkdale Tenuis Club was held on Wednesday. There was a good attendance. The report and balance-sheet showed ■ a successful past season and a sound financial position. The following officers were elected :—Patron, the Mayor (Mr. J. P. McPhail, J.P.) ; president, Mr. W. S. Garrett; vice-presidents, Messrs. \V. B. Darlow, J. C. Alexander, A. Badfield, L.. Castleton, H. Eeich and J. Bright; secretary, Mr. R. L. Moller, jun.; cliib captain, Mr. R. L. Moller, sen.; lion, auditor,. Mr. J. C. Alexander; committee, Messrs. E. J. Osborne, F. Schorman, L. Reid, K. L. Moller, sen. It was decided to appoint a ladies' comr mittee later in the season.

PATUMAHOE CLUB

. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Patumahoe Tennis Club, the president, Mr. 0. C. Golds worthy presiding. Officers elected were: Patron, Mr. J. N. Massey, M.P.; president, Mr. O. C. Goldsworthy; vice-presidents, Mrs. Parris and Mr. T. Turner; secretary and treasurer, ■ Mr. J. Membery; auditor, Mr, W. E. Johns; executive, Mrs. Needham, Mrs. McMurtrie, Mrs. Johns, Miss M. Urquhart, Messrs. R. Henry, R. Brady and K Reynolds; selection committee, Messrs. K. Syme. «. Brady and T. Turner; delegates to Franklin Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs. Goldsworthy and Membery. ' The' season will be opened on Saturday, October 11.

MANGERE CENTRAL CLUB.

The official opening of the Mangere Central Tennis Club's courts for the coming season will take place on Saturday when a progressive tournament will be held, followed by a dunce in the Mangere Central Hall in the evening. An invitation is p\tended to members of kindred clubs to be present both in the afternoon and evening. ROTORUA CLUB. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) ROTOIiUA, Wednesday. There was a fair attendance at the nnrnml meeting of the Rotorua Tennis C?ub on Tuesday evening The balancesheet showed a cash balance of £170 14/10 which was considered very satisfactory. The club had made an offer of £60. It was decided to leave the fixing of the annual subscription until negotiations with the Department, had been concluded.

There was a good muster of members at the annual meeting of the Tahuna Tennis Club, Morrinsvllle. The'election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr. J. M. Stewart; vice-presidents, Messrs. At the annual meeting of the Te TJku Tennis Club the following officers were elected .-—President, Mr. C. Hall; captain, Mr. Burke; selector, Mr. C. Ormiston; secretary, Mr. R. Harsant; committee, Misses Moon, Ross, Stubbs, Messrs. Sweetman, Bates and Marr.
