WHITLEY IN ENGIJAND. EX-AUOKLANDER DOES WELL. The late.st mail from England "brought news of Eric Whitley, who kept wickets for the Parnell senior eleven last season. Young Whitley was proposed for a well-known wandering team, "The Ferrets," of which Mr. Leveson-Gower, one of the British selectors,,is president, and the famous Gilligan brothers vicepresidents, and he played two games 'before he was elected. In the first matchi, he assisted in, taking two wic-ketf-i and made 16 runs, and in the second, in which he did not wear the gloves, he took two catches. "The Ferrets" are said to be above the standard of a senior club.team in Auckland, and number among their members several past and present county players. Whitley has also played with the Australasian Banks eleven. During "Cricket Week" in August, Whitley stayed at St. Martin's Rectory, Canterbury, and saw Kent play Hampshire and Kent play Notts.
