RIFLE SHOOTING.
WHAKATANE CLUB. ■ The second and final round of the competition for Mr. JR. Melville's trophy was fired, and resulted in Melville gaining first pjaee for his own trophy, mainly by a .well. compiled score of 45 points out of 50 at 500 yards. The results are as follow: R. Melville, 35 at 200 yds, 45 at 500 yds, (handicap 20)—100; S. T. Keen, 33, 38 (13)—84; JV K. Bell, 32, 24 (25)—81; B. Law, 37, 43 (scr)—Bo. Mr. Melville has kindly redonated his prize (50 rounds of ammunition), together with the sum of 10/ for a further competition to commence ne:;t Wednesday, and to extend over three days, but only one day's shoot to count. This will enable members who are not able to attend the range regularly to have a chance in the competition, which will be fired over four ranges—2oo, 300, 500 and 600 yardsten shots at each range. The prizes are Ist 10/: 2nd, 30 rounds ammunition; 3rd. 20 rounds ammunition.. WHANGAREI MINIATURE CLUB.
