(From Onr Own Correspondent.) Much unsettled weather has been recorded in the district of late, with moderate showers and very cold mornings; in fact, frost has been noticeable in many places. Most of the herds about are all in, and a good quantity of cream is shipped by the cream launch every second day. The erection of the breakdown saw in the rail! of Hodge and Jovanovieh at Waione has been completed, and a trial run was given last week, when everything ivent satisfactorily. The erection was carried out by Mr. L. Lowe, of Mercury Bay. The official herd tester was in the district last week. His round this season includes Hikuai, Whenuakite, Hot Water Beach, Hakei, Purangi, Coroglen, Mill Creek and part of Mercury Bay. In travelling through these districts some very rough roads have to be traversed. It is reported that when a decided improvement in weather conditions takes place a start is to be made in the construction of the road from Stoney Creek to Coroglen. This will complete the continuous formation from Hikuai to Coroglen. Wild pigs have been having a lively time of late from the local hunters, and some very big boars have been shot. One party of two hunters secured 21 big pigs in two days. Last week-end the total of the various parties was 31, many of these being big boars. In the capturing of the above several of the dogs were badly wounded. Despite all the hunting that takes place, much damage is done among the young lambs. Concerning the erection of the Kapowai Bridge, Mr. J. Hamilton, a county councillor, has received from the Minister of Public Works information that all tlie materials for the bridge have been ordered, and that their delivery is being expedited as much as possible, with a view to having the bridge erected at the earliest possible date.
