SPRING MEETING.

BLACK MINT LIFTS CUP, PANGOLIN AT LAST. TROT TO AYRMONT CHIMES. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star,"); ORAKI, this day. The Geraldine Racing Club's spring meeting opened at Geraldine in. ideal weather, and will be woundup on Saturday. There is a good attendance. The track is ir, excellent condition. Haze Beaten into Third Place. Haze (£165) and Pangolin (£160) were best backed for the First Hurdles; Gala Day Jed Pangolin for half the journey, witlj Gay Fashion, Star Stranger 11. and Troilus handy. Pangolin then took charge, winning easily from Troilus, while Haze—a neck away—beat Star Stranger 11. on the post for third. Gay Fashion fell half a mile from home. Pangolin was always going well. A Division Race. The Ohapi Handicap was run in divisions. Tray Bond (£330) was a hot favourite, Tracsono (£177) and Bellbird (£116) being next beet backed. Bellbird Jed all the way in the first division, winning by tlfree lengths from Silver Salver, who beat Sky Sign in the last stride. Tracsono was fourth. Tray Bond was soon in front in the second division, but Al Jolson wore him down in the straight, winning by a length, with Night Recital a neck away and Lord Argosy fourth. A Picnic for the Outsiders. Starshooter 4 £254), Black Duke (£193) and Town Major ( £132) were best backed for the Geraldine Cup. Semper Paratus and Starehooter made the early running. Black Mint was always handy, andi with Town Major, joined Starshooter in the lead half a milo from home. Don Jose was with the front lot at the entrance to the straight. Then Starshooter retired, Black Mint winning by half u length. Malmsey, who finished fast, beat Don Jose by half a length, with Black Duke close up. The result was a great reversal of Aehburton form, and the winner started one of the outsiders of the field. The other was the second horse.
