ORANGES SHORT. DEMAND FOR GOOD PEARS. eggs plentiful. Oranges are short at'the markets at present, and the next Cook Islands steamer is not due for some three weeks. Values for mandarins are low. feome ot this fruit has been dry, and some in poor condition. Prices now ruling will not repay Sydney shippers. Fewer Cauliflowers. The market ie heavily supplied with cabbage, lettuce and celery. There are fair supplies of new potatoes. Cauliflower is not scarce, but it could not be deemed plentiful. About a fortnight ago there was a cold snap. Supplies fell off then, and have not recovered. Beans and peas are appearing on the market, but will not be common until nest month at the earliest. Ku'maras, Tauranga, 10/ to 11/ cwt; cabbage, 1/ to 5/ sack; cauliflower, 4/ to 9/ sack; swedes, 1/6 bag; pumpkins, 16/ to 24/ cwt; beans, hothouse, 1/6 to 2/ lb; lettuce, 2/ .to 8/ case; cucumbers, hothouse, 6/ to 9/6 dozen; vegetable marrows, 2/ to- 3/; cabbage, on benches, 6d to 1/6 dozen; cauliflower, on benches, 1/6 to 5/ dozen; celery, 6d to 3/ bundle; rhubarb, 2/6 to 3/6 _dozen; spinach, 1/ to 1/6 dozen; pumpkins, on benches, 1/6 to 3/ each; radish, 1/ dozen; spring onions, 6d to 1/ bundle; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 1/ to 1/9 dozen; asparagus, 1/ to 1/9 bundle; leeks, 3d to 6d.

Eggs Plentiful. Supplies of eggs are plentiful and increasing. The demand remains fair. For first quality hen eggs the current prices are: Special grade, 1/3 dozen; A grade, 1/2; B grade, 1/1; C grade, lid. Ducks eggs: Special grade, 1/1 dozen; A grade, 1/; B grade, lid; C grade, lOd. Farmers' butter is fetching from lid to 1/1 a lb. Larger supplies are coming in, and though the price shows a drop the demand is still holding.

Poultry Sales. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was short and the demand was keen. The prices paid remain level. They were:—Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime, 6/ to 7/6; not prime, 3/6 upwards; light breeds, prime, 4/ to 5/; not prime, 3/ upwards. Fat roosters:, Heavy breeds, prime, 2/6 to 4/; light breeds, 2/ to 2/6. Fat hens: Heavy breeds, 3/ to 4/9; light breeds, 2/9 to 3/9. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best, 4/ to 6/; smaller, 2/6 upwards; light breeds, best, 4/6 to 6/; smaller, 2/ upwards. Drakes: Young, prime, 3/6 to 4/6; old, 2/ to 3/.
