FOUNDATION OF WAITAKI RIVER DAM. ASSURANCE BY ENGINEER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. In Christcliurch last week a rumour was persistently circulated that a fissure had been found in the rock foundation for the dam in the Waitaki River in connection with the* power scheme, and that tons of concrete had been poured into it without finding bottom. Tha engineer in charge, Mr. R. H. Packwood, now repeats his assurance, given some time ago,, that all is well with the construction work.
