WAIKATO HORSES.

AVONDALE REPRESENTATIVES A BIG TEAM. CHANCES OF PAGANELLI. ■ All the training centres in the Waikato will be represented in the fields racing at Avondale, and a share of the stakes can be anticipated, as soma useful sorts are to bo saddled up from f this direction. A run through to-morrow's acceptance list shows horses from this area as under:— x ' Te Rapa.—Beau Irish, Stonehenge, Arch Eagle, Pendenn is, Daylight, Royal Visitor, The Sun, Cmaeluin, Paddon, Paganelli, Imamint, Tradesman. .T e Awamutu.—llluminagh. Sea Cob,Air King, Te Hoia, Biddy's Boy, Prodice, Baroscope, Kingsway, Golden ■ Sceptre, Princess Bede; Llanfylan, Supremacy, Awarere, Royal Ruler, Awamutu, Flying Prince, Trishna, Biddv Comet, Desert Glow, Sir Kay. Matamata.—Wild Mint, Glenstar, Rea Comet, Valroe, Sports King, Standfast, Prince Val, Valstreet. Te Arolia.—Miss Albyn, Luckv Alice, Volimoiul, Indolent. Paeroa.—High Pitch, Ohinemuri.

Imamint, after her ready victory in the Trial at Marton, disappointed a little by her failure to do better than fourth in her start at Wanganni. The Catmint—Ra Aroha filly certainly looks improved by her recent racing. hit out very freely 011 the course proper at Te Rapa yesterday.

Awarere has a p&rtiality for the ondale track and it is not going to surprise some good judges if the Swift I'light chestnut throws out a . serious ehallence in the sprint to-morrow. He has got through a fair measure of fast work at Te Awamutu and, 011 past disprnys, has to be considered at the early stage of a season's racing. Holly Holm, who is among M. J. Carroll s team at Te Rapa, will be raced at the Waikato fixture. The Acre—Great Effort three-year-old is small, but time and racing should benefit him.

Likes the Course. Princo Val's name is not heard of very lcqucntly in discussion concenun" spniit honours at Avondale to-morrow. It was on this course last spring where I mice Val won a double, at a mile and six furlongs respectively, which he folowed up with a win at a mile at Ellerslie in October, running. out of the hack grade as the outcome. While not over successful in the more advanced comthe Valkyrian gelding, was responsible for a few good efforts at a middle distance and also over sprint journeys. Ho has got through a useful measuro of work at Matamata and may go a lot better this week-end than expected.

Royal Visitor is to make his debut as a hurdler at Avondalc to-morrow. The Lucullus—Sports Queen gelding has only been schooled for the job during the past three weeks. He has'shaped really well for a novice, and Phil Brady's charge offers good prospects in this division. For one thing, he has condition in his favour. He will undoubtedly bo useful as time goes 011. R. E. Thomson will rido him to-morrow;

The Sun is a Waikato-trained hack claiming a double engagement to-nior-row. When last seen out he put up a good shdwing when, after a slow beginning, he was finishing 011 .strongly in fourth berth in the Sylvia Park Handicap at Ellerslio last month. The Sun Cure,—Persiauello four-year-old has worked nicely at Te Kapa lately and bears a bright appearance. He has, at times, failed to jump away smartly in his work-outs against the clock, which is not in his favour. This long stridor can travel when under way. With a strong horseman to-morrow he will be hard to boat. The Sun is in the Plumpton Handicap 011 Monday, for which event H. Gilmer has been engaged to ride him.

Daylight is to be ridden in the Kingsland Hurdles by the Franklin horseman A. Gilmer. This member of Albert Jackson's team at Te Rapa has developed a lot since he commenced racing over hurdles, and is in good order. The Day Comet —Cuiragnes . gelding won two

batten races during the limited time he was at the business last season, the first at Paeroa and the other at Trehtham. As ho is speedy, Daylight will have an advantage on the mile and a half trip to-morrow.

Arch Eagle is a member of Roy Syme's team for racing at the Avondale meeting. Since running fourth in the Auckland Handicap at the Pakuranga fixture the Archiestown gelding ha 3 not been idle. He worked with The Sun against the watch at Te Rapa the other morning, and although his rival was doing, better at'the end of the six furlongs Arch Eagle shaped nicely. It' 'Hector Gray can get Arch Eagle balanced fairly early in the Maiden Plate, his mount..will have a challenge for the end. The fact that he is not a good beginner tells against his prospects, however.

First of the Season. 'Paganelli will be ,haying his first-race of the season in the open sprint at Avondale to-morrow, in which ho will be ridden by the stable apprentice, 0. Mclnally. The Lord Quex gelding has never proved at home on soft ground. Taking a line through his track efforts at Te Rapa,-Paganelli will want some racing to bring him to his best. i

Beau Irish, a member of P. Brady's team, to race in the opening event at Avondale, is Australian bred, being by Beaufort—Lady Sindhia. This three-year-old was purchased at the Sydney yearling sales. He was started a couple of times last season at Te, Rapa,. and showed some pace. Beau Irish lias been working some time at Te Rapa. He displays speed, but it is doubtful if he is tuned up sufficiently to see out seven, ■although lie will be in it for a time. J. Day, the Te Awamutu apprentice, is to rido Beau Irish to-morrow.

Very Near His Top. Sir Kay, since re-entering the racing scene at the Easter period,., has .been "knocking at the door" on more than one occasion. The Lord Quex gelding, hailing from the Paul stable at Tc Awamutu, is an acceptor in tlie Hack Plate and the Henderson Handicap tomorrow'. Whatever should be his mission, lie will warrant attention, as he is in advanced order for racing. Stonehenge, who joined A. Tinker's team last season, raced on only five occasions during the past term. The Feramorz —Marble Star gelding ran third to Sir Mond and Operatic in the Dominion Handicap, of seven furlongs, at Avondale in the autumn. At the winter meeting at Ellerslie he"7 ran Helium to half a'length in the decision of the Fitzroy Handicap, one • mile. Stonehenge is in-tlie Maiden Plate tomorrow, iii which his trainer will ride him. This horse- has "made steady improvement as the outcome, of the recent work«lie lias been getting at Te Papa.' ; ! _ .. ,
