TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME.

FIRST JUVENILE CLASSIC

THE FIELDS DISCUSSED,

•The spring meeting of the Avonclale Jockey Club will open at Avonclale tomorrow, and if the weather is fine the fixture should prove a most interesting one, for excellent fields are engaged throughout. The going is sure to be on the holding side after recent rain, but still good finishes should result.

The Maiden Plate. A large field is "engaged in the Maiden Plate,' and included among them are several good two-year-olds last season. Chrysology. was second 111 the Nursery Handicap, four furlongs, at the Hawke's •Bay Spring meeting, third in the Musket Stakes, five furlongs, at Ellerslie, second in the Wellcsley Stakes, five furlongs, third in the Hopeful Stakes, five furlongs, and third in the North Island Challenge Stakes, seven furlongs, to Cylinder and Paganelli, at Trentham. If lie has gone 011 the right way in the meantime he should be hard to beat. Karangapai also showed promisajgst season, being second in five and sixfurlong juvenile events at the Waikato autumn meeting and running second in the Onslow Stakes, six at Ellerslie.. He may be in need of a race. Rosshire was only just beaten in two sixfurlong races at the Wellington winter meeting, while he showed up till the straight in; the Auckland Handicap, one mile, at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting at Ellerslie.
