A LONG TRIP.

RACEHORSES FROM NAPIER.

BROUGHT BY MOTOR VAN,

Six racehorses, Commandant, Chrysology, Courtesy and Great Charter, owned by Mr. T. H. Lowry, Gold Pit, owned by Mrs. M. A. Perry, and Ecila, owned by Mr. J. Carr, arrived by motor van from Greenmeadows last night to fulfil engagements at forthcoming meetings in Auckland. They left Napier at 5 a.m. on Wednesday and expected to reach Auckland the same night, but engine trouble necessitated them spending a. good while at J aupo, A stay of six hours was made at Hamilton, and the horses reached Auckland, at 8 o'clock last evening. There were two motor vans, one of which contained the feed and gear. This is not the first time that such a trip has been made f-om Hawke's Bay, to Auckland with hones, Royal Parade, Toxeuma and White Fang having been trought from Hastings to Auckland for the autumn meeting at Ellerslie last Easter. This trip was made via New Plymouth.

H. Gray has .purchased a property at Takanini, and will make his residence there early next month. It is situated in Manaroa Road, with a lengthy frontage to the Ctfeat South Road. A.stable is, to be erected in the course of the'next week or so, and G. Gray will be established as a- trainer herb.

R. S. Bagby has finished his agreement with the Jamieson stable, and. is returning to Auckland after the Randwick carnival next month.. The, heavy riding is to be given to the Australian jockey G. Bartle while the team is in Sydney. ;
