RELIEF TROTTING MEETING.

The actual profit on the unemployed relief meeting held: by the Auckland 1 Tro'tting Club on August 31 and September! was £2052, but the refunding of £5412 Government taxation means that the substantial sum of £7494 will be equally shared between the Auckland Hospital Board and the City Council, each receiving £3747.

The; money- will be used by the Hospital Board ( in relieving distress, while the, council , will use its share in providing work for unemployed men. The statement., of accounts for the meeting wa.s presented to the committee of the Auckland Trotting Club yesterday. Receipts were shown as follows: Totalisator, • £8844; nominations and acceptances, £830; race cards, £309; privileges, £103; gates, stiles and sta'nds,£l72o; donations; £374, including staff wages, £172; Cornwall Park trustees, refund of rent, £100; B, Burnnancl 'Band, refund of ■ payment, £SG; St; John Ambulance, refund, £14; w' Morton, £3 3/; '•Sporting and Dramatic Review," £6 o/; M. D. Gray, £10 10/; Police Department, refund," £12; and stakes tax, £200.
