OPENING PRICES GOOD,

The national sale of pedigree .Jersey bulls, organised* by Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., was commenced at the Claudelands Show Grounds yesterday.

A large bench of buyers was - present from all parts of the North Island, while several from the South Island attended. A record entry of bulls was offered by breeders from as far south as Nelson. The total offering comprised" 405 head, of which 241 were yearlings arid 164 two-year-old and over.

Thfrj sales yesterday were confined to twp-year-olds and over. The highest price realised was 270gs, paid by Mr. A. E. Missen, as agent, for Mr. 0. G. C. .Dernier's two-year-61d bull Waipiko Love' Boy. The nekt highest pride was 235g5, which Mr. J. BiAitken, of Pukekohe, paid for Mr. Del'mer's Waipiko Caravel. The,third highest-priced animal was Meadowvale Oxford Sultan, bought by Mr. O, Stevens, of Whangarei, from Mr.M. S. Smith, Hastings, for 170gSw " .' ' The values realised were considered very satisfactory. The average price obtained for the 71 bulls sold, out of the catalogued offering of 110, was 43g4 ;

GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP TO TARANAKI. FINE QUALITY YEARLINGS. (By Telegraph.—.Own Correspondent.) s HAMILTON,' this day. : The National Jersey Ishow sale was continued ,at Claudelaiids to-day. There was again a large bench 6f buyers, representative of every important dairying centre in the North Island. Prior to the sale a record number of yearlings faced the officiating judges. They were of fine quality, and difficulty was experienced in deciding the winning group of three yearlings.. , Considerable interest centred around the grand championship of the ehow, the award eventually going to the Taranaki exhibitor, Mr. J. S. Jones. The grand championship was awarded.to Mr. J. S, .Silverley's Regal Mixture, an outstanding yearling by Sybil's Volunteer (imp.), froni Silverley's Viola. This bull also won the chanipionshjp s in the yearling eecticai. The reserve championship was won by Mr. C. G. C, Dermer's Waipiko Love Boy. ' .
