UNEMPLOYMENT BILL.
SPECULATION AS TO FATE. MAJORITY IN COUNCIL , PROBABLE. PASSAGE PRACTICALLY ASSURED. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. There is considerable speculation in the lobbies as to the fate the Unemployment Bill will meet -;at the* hands ' of the Legislative Council. 'The iiieasure is now before a committee of that -.chamber and is expected to be reported :upon this week. The bill has been "recognised by councillors as "a money ' bill," ! and therefore be amended in part only. In the event ,of disapproval the course would be for; tlie Uppter House to reject the measure in toto. ; .t While inquiries reveal that strong exception is taken to portions of the bill it is gleaned that there is'a sufficient majority in tlie council to ensure its passage.
