The New Brighton Trotting Club was unfortunate in the weather for the spring meeting, a cold wind and frequent showers of rain being in evidence all day. The track was slow, but the racing was good. The attendance was larger than seemed probable, and the tote figures were £15,354 10/, compared with £25,756 10/ last year. Sodium-Fades Out. Sodium (£SS4), Captain Wrack ( £401) and Brentliglit ( £354) were the chief fancies for the Dash Handicap. Captain Wrack and Flora C4okling led Audrey Dillon in the early stages, with Warren ore, Sodium, Brehtlight and Tactless handy. At the half-milo post Sir Author moved up. Captain Wrack, Warrenore and Sodium led to the straight, with Sir Author and Kautoma in the next bunch. Sodium was in front fifty yards from the post, but tired, and Captain Wrack won by a neck from Kautoma, who beat Sodium by a head, with Sir Author close up. Wainoni Handicap.

Aleron (£445), Ngahuia (£360), and Granite City (£281) carried most money in the Wainoni Handicap. Ngahuia was in front after going a furlong, and at the stand he was joined by Double Event, with Rolex and Sahib heading the others. Double Event led this bunch out of the straight, where Avencrer and Aleron also joined in. Ngahuia took charge at..the three-. furlon" post with Aleron, Double Event and Avenger handy. Ngahuia and -\ven"er were in line a furlong from the post. Avenger' finished well 'and won by half a length, while Aleron got up on the post to deadheat with Ngahuia for second place. -Boieole and Shady Spot were close up. Tactless Easily. Hostess Kinney Dillon (£523) and Koyal Comrade (£324) were fancied for the Electric Handicap. . Harley Dillon had a lead of six lengths at the end of a furlong,'.where Tactless was in second place. Tactless was two lengths behind the leader'at the half-mile post with Erin's -Lynn, Alvira, and Royal Comrade next.- Harley Dillon was beaten a little further/on;. Tactless then took charge, while R?yal Comrade took second place at the home turn. Tactless held Ids place and won by three lengths, while Hostess pushed on and beat Royal Comrade by half a length.
