SMALL RELATIVE INCREASE

DUNEDIN, this day.
At the annual reunion of the Dunedin section of the P. and T. Employees' Association Mr. S. M. Harrison, the chief postmaster, referring to adverse comment on the "army of public servants.-' stated that whereas the work and revenue of the Postal Department had increased 100 per cent in 12 years the staff had increased only 2S per cent. Moreover, the Department had to do much work for other Departments. For instance, said Mr. Harrison, 219,000 motor vehicles had to be re-licensed every year and 30,000 new licenses were issued last year.
