LAUNCH ROBBED.
BENZINE AND GOODS TAKEN
CABIN DOOR FORCED,
A further case of theft from a launch was reported yesterday . when it was discovered that a thief or thieves had removed about £20 worth of goods from the launch Launa, anchored in Mechanics' Bay, and owned by Mr. R. D. Rogers, of St. George's Bay Road, Parnell.
The door of the cabin was forced, and the goods removed, including benzine, tinned food and-a pair of binoculars.
, On Friday last it was found that two launches, in St. Mary's Bay had b'cen broken into and miscellaneous goods taken.
One yachtsman this morning expressed the opinion that boys "were responsible for the thefts, but this view is not held by the waterfront police, who say boys would not remove benzine or articles that they would have difficulty in disposing of.
Thieving from pleasure craft anchored hi tlio various bays lias been going on, off and on, for some years, but the present instances arc the first for some months!' Thefts committed during the .winter months arc confined inostly to launches, as the majority of the yachts are hauled up on to the hard and everything, of value removed from them.
