EX-SERVICEMEN UNITE.
ASSOCIATION AT NORTHCOTE
An enthusiastic meeting at Northcote last evening of some forty returned soldiers decided to form an ex-service-men's association. Mr. P. J. Ryan presided.
The annual subscription was fixed at 2/0, and it was decided to admit as members all who had served overseas, or for more than six months during the Great War, and had received an honourable discharge. The objects are social and benevolent, and the immediate work of the association will be directed towards the relief of unemployment among the ex-servicemen of the district.
A concert will be held this month for the purpose of raising funds. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Major-General Sir George Richardson; vice-patron, Mr. M. _J. Walsh; president, Mr. P. J. Ryan; vicepresidents, Messrs. 'W. Fullbrook, J. Major, F. Wilson, 0. Tarbutt, H. Shaw, and H. J. C. George; secretary, Mr. J. F. Jackson; treasurer, Mr. F. Townshend; committee, Messrs. W. Fullbrook, F. Wilson, C. G. Isbister, W. Rackett, H. J. C. George, V. Somerville, and C. Adamson; auditor, Mr. A. W. Christmas; trustees, Messrs. P. J. Ryan, J. F. Potter, and F. Wilson.
