SAMOAN AGITATIONS.
"WOMEN BRINGING MAU INTO CONTEMPT."
ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT,
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.)
WELLINGTON, Thursday,
After enumerating tlic disturbing events due to tho Mau agitation in Western Samoa, tlie Administrator, Mr. S. S. Allen, in his annual report, reviews the conditions up to date, and expresses the opinion that a steady drift away from the Mau has set in. "A peculiar development of the dispersal of the Mau," lie says, "has been the commencement of a 'Women's Mau,' which, during March, has been holding meetings at Vaimoso and has paraded through Apia in imitation of the former action of tho men. This movement has been organised by two half-caste women who are both actively opposed to the Administrator. They are, however, bringing tho Mau into ridicule and contempt, and so producing a result somewhat different from that expected."
