WEST END CLUB.

PRIZE NIGHT SOCIAL. ,

The West End Rowing Club's big boathouse in St. Mary's Bay was the scene or a bright function last, night when the annual social and distribution of .prizes took place. The club president, Mr. A. M. Patterson, presided, and the members, supporters and delegates of tlie other clubs were in strong force. In his opening remarks Mr. Patterson gave an interesting account of the club's activities last season. In finishing second 1,0 the winning donations with £72, the best performance was recorded since 1920. Great credit was accorded the junior four that met with euch conspicuous success, especially at the Wanganui regatta. The trophies, a very useful and handsome set, were presented to the various winners by Mrs. Mortimer Fairs. A hearty vote of th&nka was accorded the donor* of the trophies for their loyal support in such tangible form. Apologies, for absence were received from Messrs R. L. Stewart, patron ; John Clark and A. C. Norden, the latter an old active member who is seriously ill in hospital. An enjoyable supper was served by the ladles' committee under the direction of Mrs. M. Fairs. A most enjoyable social rWas completed Vith dancing, the music .being supplied by Mr. A. Clark's orchestra. ■Two enjoyable incidents were the presentation of a framed photo to Mr. A. M. Patterson of the crerw that won his trophies ««d to Mr. A. Collins, one of the crack junior four. 'Both recipients suitably responded and gave the members some instructive advice for their welfare.
