FANCY DRESS DANCE.

\ The Mangere East Hall presented an animated scene last night; when the annual children's fancy dress ball was held in aid-of; the funds of the combined Anglican and Presbyterian Churches. Red, white and (blue streamers had been used to effect in decorating the hall, while the multitude, of fancy costumes added to the gay atmosphere. -• -r p . were awarded-'*for. fancy-.and'' most original bdstumes,' according to this ages of the children. Mesdames P. H. Smith, 0. R. Self, M. Kirkbride and L. Jones made the awards, which were as follow: —Humorous, Billy Lundy, as. the black budget; Ray Lovell,- as dignity and impudence. Under 8: Girls, Peggy Hudson, as golden butterfly; 'boys; Max Nash, as robin redbreast. Under 12, girls, Dora Hagen, as an!' Egyptian: girl; boys, Pat Hagen, as Red Indian. Under 16, girls, Edith Marriner, as oranges and lemons; boys, Jack Burrett, as Dinty. Special, -girls, Chris Massey, as Fluffy Ruffles; Jean Knight, as fairy; Hester Eustace, as.a bee; 0. Turnbull, as tambourine 'girl; G. Cook, as balloon, girl; boys, Bernard Pagerie, as a sailor boy. Original, under 8, girls, Lorna Studd, cotton reel; boys, H. Clows, Father Christmas. Original, over 8, girls, Muriel Blandford, correspondence; Muriel Kay, country cottage; boys, Arthur Gregory, golliwog; Jack Rose, old musician.
