COMMERCIAL HOARDINGS.
TAKAPUNA COUNCIL'S VIEW.
Further light upon the relatiqnship existing between the Takapuna Borough Council and proprietors of commercial hoardings was forthcoming at last night's meeting of the local body. Mr. J. Guiniven moved that a decisive decision concerning the advertising boards of Milford Pictures, Ltd., be rescinded. He stressed the importance of the modern view of the effect of environment upon children, and contended that indiscriminate hoardings did not tend to make the borough more beautiful. The Mayor, Mr. <T. W. Williamson, said that recently litigation irt the Supreme Court had been started by the hoarding proprietors, but the only result had been a realisation by them that they would not succeed. In addition, the council's costs would fall 'upon the shoulders of the other side, this having been a point agreed upon in the settlement effected. The motion was loet, the council deciding to let all cases come up for review on March 31 of next year.
