NORTH AUCKLAND BEATEN BY 27 POINTS TO 17.

Before 2000 people at Nelson Park today Hawke's Bay defeated the North Auckland touring Rugby team by 27 points to 17 in a game full of thrills. The second spell- was most exciting. The Hawke's Bay forwards attacked from the start, and after five minutes' play Grensider with a splendid effort, kicked a penalty goal. The home side returned to the attack, and North Auckland was again penalised. Grenside kicked another goal. Ryan, W. Rika and Fletcher broke away in a sensational run to the corner, but when the ball came, out to the visiting backs they were bustled by the home forwards. Following a hot attack Grenside won a long chase for the ball and scored behind the posts, converting the try. Ground gained by the bustling Hawke's Bay forwards was lo3t by the backs, who were bustled by the spoiling tactics of the visitors.
