,At an athletic sports meeting at Stamford Bridge yesterday France beat England .by t»5 points to 55.

Franco won the 100 yards, Avergnc running the distance in 9 4-ss.

Other French wins were:—One mile, La Doumergue; long jump, Barbier, 23ft 4in; high jump, Menard, 6ft 3in; pole jump, Pramadier, 12ft 9in; putting the weight, Noel, 45ft 7in; discus throw, Noel,> 144 ft lOiin.

France secured all the places in the discus throw and long jump, and first and second in the high jump and weight putting.

'England won the following events:— 220 yds, Englehart, 21 4-ss; quarter-mile, Brangwin, iSO 4-ss; half-mile, Hampson, lni 53 4-os; two miles steeplechase, Bailey, 10m 55 3-ss; three miles, Winfield, 14m 57 2-ss; 120 yds hurdles, Lord Burghloy, 14 9-lOs; and the mile relay.
