Three Battleships Put Out of
Commission.

WASHINGTON, August 3
The United States Navy' Department announces a tentative decision which calls for the retirement of the battleships Utah, Florida and Wyoming about October 1 without the necessity of awaiting Japan's ratification of the London Naval Treaty.
It is assumed that world conditions aro such that a" situation could arise in tho next 18 months in which the United States would be handicapped by the lack of these warships, but the move will savo the country. about £800,000 and servo as a gesture of international confidence.
