MAN ON LICENSE CONVICTED

GIVEN ANOTHER CHANCE. "All's well tliat ends well," said Chief Detective Hammond about Summers Heruika Edwards (38), who appeared at the Police Court.this morning to plead guilty to a charge of receiving, on July 30, .1928,. a watch and chain, valued at £15, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained. Mr. Hammond said the charge was brought merely to clean up the matter. About two years ago Edwards- was arrested for a number of burglaries the Parnell district. At that time he denied all knowledge of the watch and chain, but now the police discovered that he had them. They were now in the possession of the police. Edwards was at present out on license. "When he is sober he is a good worker, but when he nets too much drink he wants to steal, and is a good thief," added Mr. Hammond.. " Edwards was convicted and ordered to come Tip for sentence when called upon.
