DECLARED "BLACK."

Unemployed Relief Works in

New South Wales.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT.

SYDNEY,* July 23,

The 700 men on unemployed relief work who . struck yesterday subsequently agreed to resume work after hearing the reply of the Minister of Labour, Mr. E. 11. Farrar, to their representatives in. regard to their conditions. ..It was understood, however, that if the demands of the men were not met ■satisfactorily- all relief works might be declared "black" by the unemployed worker's' movement.

This assumption proved correct, for the men on. the: suburban works later struck again and the police had' to drive agitators, a way. The-Minister of Public , Works, Mr. E. A. Buttenshaw, has ordered all relief works to cease until Monday, when other gangs will be, employed and rations for the strikers will be stopped.
