PERSONAL.
Sir Frederic Lang, M.L.C., returned from Wellington by the Limited this morning. Mr. W. G. Wolilmann, the new Commissioner of Police, is in Wellington. He will take up his duties on August 1. Messrs. A. Mac Donald, A. J. Geddes and W. Maxwell, All Black selectors, arrived in Auckland by the Limited this morning. Dr. A. E. Porritt, New Zealand athlete and former Rhodes Scholar, has been granted a diploma of Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr. J. V. Moran, director of the Col-gate-Palmolive-Peet Co., Ltd., is in Auckland. He is making a business tour of the Dominion. Mr. Frank Seavill, of Waingaro, has been recommended for a short service commission in the Royal Air Force. He will leave for England next October. Professor G. E. Thompson, of the University of Otago, has been elected by the members of the Academic Board to represent them on the New Zealand University Entrance Board. Mr. H. H. Hicks, of Turua, has been appointed a member of the Thames Harbour Board by the Government to fill the position rendered vacant by the resignation of Mr. C. W. Harris.
