OBITUARY.
THE REV. S. S. OSBORNE,
PRESBYTERIAN MINISTER
The dea,th occurred 011 July 15 in aprivate^hospital at Mount Eden of the Rev. Samuel Smith Osborne. Born in Londonderry, Ireland, sin 1850, Mr. Osborne came to New Zealand for health reasons about fifty years ago, and finding the climate of Auckland favourable settled here. He had been manager of a linen factory in Belfast and he was. for some years in business in Auckland. He entered the ministry of the Presbyterian Church forty years ago and held charges at Whangarei and Hastings, and for seventeen years at New Plymouth. After his retirement in 1911 he lived at New Plymouth until he came to Auckland in 1926. Airs. Osborne, who died some years ago, was a sister of the late Sir Robert Hart, for fifty years Inspec-tor-General of Customs in China. There arc three sons. Dr. G. M. H. Osborne, of Warkworth, Mr. S. E. Osborne, of Timaru, and Mr. A. H. Osborne, of Epsom.
