ATHLETICS.
MAUNGATAPERE CLUB.
At a general meeting of members of the Maungatapere Athletic Club Mr. J. G. Draper presided over a large attendance. The secretary's statement showed that the club's meeting resulted in a profit of £100. The club has now aproximately £270 cash in bank and a surplus of assets over liabilities amounting to roughly £300. This happy financial position was favourably received, and, given good management and organisation and maintenance of the present high standard programme, the club's future looks very rosy indeed. Mr. F. O. Armstrong was appointed delegate to the annual conference of the Northern Athletic Union. The usual donation of two guineas was made to the St. John Ambulance Association. The sum of five guineas each was donated to the Rev. fasper Calder's City Mission, and the Maungatapere Soldiers' Memorial Church. Mention was made of a number of suggested improvements for next sports meeting. These will be considered by the executive and reported on at the annual meeting.
