PHAR LAP.
HIS SPRING PROGEAZvBIE,
The favourite for the Melbourne Cup, Phar Lap, will not run in any big handicap before the Victorian spring meetings, but he will go to Sydney for weight-for-age racing. According to present arrangements Phar Lap will be in Sydney before the middle of August. On his _ return to Melbourne he will have weight-for-age races at C'aulfield, Moonee "Valley, and Flemington to keep him busy, he might also take part in the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups. If he_ comes through these engagements satisfactorilv it is possible that he may be kept in training for the summer events, as the present lease on the champion will expire on February 10, 1931._ _ Commencing with, tlie \JR.G, St. Le°"er, Phar Lap has had an unbroken sequence of wins in Melbourne, Sydney, and Adelaide. At the moment he is regarded as likely to go through the spring carnival without defeat at weight-for-age, but it is impossible _to forecast what the quality of the rising three-vear-olds will be.
