NOT BEING HURRIED.
PROTOMINT IS PROMISING.
A SOLID-LOOKING COLT.
Protomint, owned by Mr. A. Rowan, of Te Awamutu, is not being hurried in his preparation, as he will not be required to race yet awhile. This rising three-year-old, who is by Catmint from Protoeal, was only started twice this season, and, although he failed to run into a place, he showed good promise. He has done well during the winter and has grown into a losid-looking colt, who, if appearances go for anything, should turn out a good proposition. Day Lass, who is in the same stable, is being qualified as a hunter and is stated to be jumping proficiently. This mare will be seen out in hunters' events at the Waikato Hunt meeting on Labour Day, and Protomint may also be given a run at that fixture.
