MILITARY DANCE.

A successful function was held at Dixieland last evening when the annual ball of the Northern Depot of New Zealand Engineers was held. There was a good attendance of enthusiastic dancers and things went with a decided swing. With attractive decorations the cabaret was looking at its best, bowls of golden Iceland poppies being on the tables in the cubicles and greenery and palms adding coolness to the atmosphere in the vestibule and entrance. The committee responsible for the arrangements were: Major W. A. Gray, M.C., Captain Clifton and Captain L. P. Rudd, who were assisted by Lieutenant Dyer, Lieutenant Tremain, Lieutenant Savory, Sergeant Julian and Sergeant Smith. Among those present were: Mrs. W. A.
