FINE DISPLAY OF JUMPING.

(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star,") CHRISTCHURCH. this day. The weather was fine for training operations at Riccarton this morning. The inside of the trial grass track provided fair going, though it was a trifle slow, and some interesting work was done by horses with early engagements. Niglitmarch hit out in good style while doing half a mile in 50 l-ss. _ Mr. A. Louisson was present to see his track work, and must have been pleased with the horse's appearance and the way he got through his task. _ Kaikahu went well in a school over four fences. Appeal sprinted half a mile in 51 o-os. On Top, a member of R. B. Berry's team, took 1.37 2-5 for seven, furlongs, but he was going easily at the end. . Gala Day jumped some hurdles and then did a working gallop over a mile with Aberfeldy for a mate. Rapina beat Sweet Refrain over six furlongs in 1.21 2-5. These two are m nice order for their South Canterbury engagements. , After Ten gave a creditable display over three hurdles. Kentish Lady beat Fairness over halt a mile in 54 l-ss. Fairness, who is engaged in the hurdle race at South Canterbury, shaped well in a school the previous afternoon. Fresh Breeze and Haze ran nix furI longs comfortably in 1.23 4-5. Lord Ranald and Wharneliffe set out for a school over the steeplechase fences. Lord Ranald took charge at the start and was in front ill the way. His jumping, as usual, was first-class, while he showed good speed all through. Wliarncliffe jumped well, but did not show nearly so much dash as his mate. . It was a fine piece of work, highly pleasing to jumping enthusiasts. Gold Mint finished in front of Radiate over a mile in 1.53 2-5. Gold Mint has done a good deal of schooling er hurdles lately, and his jumping is improving. Pangolin jumped the two hurdles along the back twice, giving a satisfactory display. . Royal Mint and Eascal occupied 1.22 for six furlongs, and Tariff did an easy half-mile. The hunter Bladon, who looks in good order for his steeplechas-3 engagement at South Canterbury, strode out freely in strong work outsid'j the schooling hurdles. Taramoa and Paris got through useful work. They were schooled over four, hurdles the previous afternoon and jumped well. Kulrange gave a good exhibition over a round of the fences, though he jumped tiffAmorist galloped seven furlongs in 1.34, and finished on well.
