CAR DRIVER KILLED.
FATAL SKID NEAR HAWERA.
LADY SEVERELY INJURED.
MALE PASSENGER ESCAPES

WANGANUI, Wednesday.
. A fatality occurred 011 tlie AucklandWellington highway, 13 miles on the Hawera side of Wanganui, this afternoon, when a five-seater touring car skidded. It left the road and overturned. The driver, Mr, Reuben Allan Benbrook, single man, aged 21 years, employed at Hawera, whose parents live at Wanganui, was thrown beneath tlie vehicle as it turned, and was killed instantly. He received tlie full weight of the car about the head and shoulders: A young ladv whose name is not known was a passenger, also a, man whoso name is believed to be Nelson. A strand of fencing wire held the car off the young lady, probably saving her life. She received severe injury to the legs, but she was able to travel by a passing service car to Hawera. It is understood that the other passenger was not hurt.
Medical aid and an ambulance were summoned from Wanganui, but on arrival the passengers had left the ccene of the accident.
