MOUNT ROSKILL ROAD BOARD.

The Mount Roskill Road Board met last night, Mr. E. F. Jones, presiding.'

Public "Works Expenditure.—The committee reported that the sum available for expenditure on public works ■ for the year ending March 31, 1931, was • £12,800. Of that amount £2900 had been expended in the quarter, which ended June' 30, leaving a balance for allocation of £9900. Out of this, it was decided to set aside £1800 for footpaths, £1200 for the anticipated work of tar sealing Mount Albert Road, and the balance of £6900 for other works.

Assessment Court.—The board was advised that a sitting of the Assessment Court to consider objections to valuations in Mount Roskill will be held at Auckland next Friday. .' ' ■' ■ .

Jellicoe Avenue. —In reply to a request from Mr. L. A, Tozer for repairs to he effected immediately to Jellicoe Avenue, Mr. S. I. GoodaH stated that.the works committee had allocated a certain sura.in the estimates for all the roads in the district, including Jellicoe Avenue. Obsolete Road Signs.—At the instance of Mr. L. A. Tozer, the matter of removing certain obsolete road signs in the western area of the district was referred to the engineer for rectification.

Street Light—Mr. J. A. Craig's request for an additional street light at the corner of Hollywood and Waiata Avenues was ■referred to the works committee.

Dominion Road. —In answer to Mr. R. Sanft the clerk stated that the annual interest and sinking fund on the loan, of £16,200 raised to pave with concrete that portion of Dominion Road under the control of the hoard, amounted to £931 10/, and •was about equal to the previous cost of maintaining the road before it was concreted.
