BYRNE GOES BACK.
ASSAULTED NEWSVENDOR.

4fter being out of Mount Eden gaol on ]y a few days, Patrick Byrne, a fire-, man aged 36, was sent back for a month. by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., when he appeared in the Police Court this mornincr on a charge of assault. The charge was that Byrne assaulted Arthur Havward Dowsing. Police evidence showed that Byrne, at r2O last evening, went up to a. newsvendor. who was seated on a box m Queen Street, and addressed him as a "scab." The paper seller replied. 1111 Af n „ ca b.» Bvrne then pushed the man t the face, knocking him backwards off W- box The man was now in hospital. Mr. Noble, who appeared for Byrne, en id that accused was drunk at the time, and did not remember anything about the incident. . Sir.
