TWO MEN FROM AUSTRALIA.
Purchase of motor car,

WELLINGTON, this day,
Reginald Vanderbelt, aged 35, and Charles Thomas. Wood, aged 27, recent arrivals from Australia, were each sentenced to six months' imprisonment by Mr. E. Page, S.M., to-day on a charge of attempting to obtain £37 15/ from Dominion. Motors by means of a valueless cheque.
It was stated that the men opened an account in the Bank of New Zealand, with £6 and afterwards agreed to buy a car and tendered a cheque for £435.
