"MECCA" OIL CASE.
RESERVED JUDGMENT GIVEN.
CLAIMS ALLOWED IN FULL.
PROCEEDINGS PENDING.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, this day.
Reserved judgment was given to-day by Mr. E. Page, S.M., in the case of the Mecca Oil Company, in which allegations of dishonesty "were made against M; P. Pimentel by former agents, who sought to recover money allegedly paid to defendant when they were appointed^
The magistrate holds that the transactions were entered into on the false representations of Pimentel being the accredited representative of a company in America, which he called the "Mecca," and that this company owned its own •wells and refinery. In view of the fact that criminal proceedings were pending against defendant he did not think it desirable to discuss the matter further. He gave judgment for the amounts claimed —Wakefield, £245 17/3; Begg, £179 10/ and Wimsett, £94 6/1 —with costs in each case.
Mr. Treadwell said that under the section of the Magistrate's Court Act he had filed notice yesterday and he required defendant to be examined forthwith as to auv debts accruing or due to him with the idea of taking attachment proceedings on any such debts. He did this because he wanted to be assured that the £3000 odd which it was alleged defendant had made in New Zealand would not go out ox the country.
