WRITER OF SONGS.
MAN COMMITTED TO ASYLUM.
WIFE NOW IN SYDNEY.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. "He is a writer of songs and is selling flowers, although he is fitted for more than that," said the maintenance officer of a man who alleged in Court recently that he had been wrongfully committed to a mental asylum on the information of his wife, who was now in Sydney.
"Tho question of ability in regard to the writing of the songs depends upon tlie class of songs that are written," said counsel for defendant. His client was a flower seller, hut flowers were scarce, although not as scarce as songs. There was more than a suspicion that defendant's wife was earning more than her board in Sydney. Tho maintenance officer said that the wife had denied that she was the cause of her husband's committal to the asylum. The case was adjourned.
