ESCAPE ATTEMPT.
Prisoner Wounded in Dash from N.S.W. Gaol.
CAPTURED BY POLICE.
(Received 11 a.m.) , SYDNEY, this day.
There was a sensational occurrence at Inverell, when Clifford Mason, a prisoner, escaped from the lock-up keeper and two policemen gave chase, firing three shots over Mason's head without effect. The fourth bullet, however, entered the prisoner's back, and although lie kept running on he was soon captured and sent to hospital.
