PIAKO COUNTY COUNCIL.

TE AROHA, Monday. Mr. W. R. Lowry presided at the July meeting of the Piako County Council. After a long discussion on the maintfenance of Te Aroha-Waliaroa main highway the council decided to maintain the shoulders of the road, pending permanent work.
The Main Highways Board has declined to make payment of any subsidy for work done on the Morrinsville-Mangatepai'u road. In the case of the Maukoro deviation, the board has agreed to reinstate the authority of £500, and make payment of that amount to the council.
The engineer reported that five bridges which had their approaches damaged by the flood, on July 5 had been reinstated. Tenders had been, called for tho reconstruction and sealing of a portion of the main highway in the Morrinsville riding.
