Marists Just Get Home Against College Rifles. A pat-chy game at the Showgrounds this afternoon saw Marists just beat College Rifles, the scores being 17 to 13. The teams were : — College Rifles—Johnson, Barron, Gillespie, Denize, McGregor, Albrecht, Kirk, Warren, Revell, Donald, Brown, Nicholson, Shire, Souter, Hyrt. Marists—Walsh, Evans, Sweeney, Cornthwaite, Loft, Smith, Wright MeVeagh, Clarke, Eville, Hennessey, Locke, Judd, b. Hadley, C. Hadley. Tykes kicked off into a strong sun, but the first, attack came from College wao went near scoring, only good work by Walsh saving the situation. Marists returned the visit and Cornthwaite was over following a good forward rush. He converted his own try. Gillespie repeated the process immediately afterwards and the quarter ended, Marists 17, College Rifles'lo. The final spell was faster than the rest of the rather uninteresting game and both sides began to show plenty of spirit. College were on the attack most of the time. College Rifles were only four points behind after Gillespie landed a sitter from a penalty. They did not improve, however, and the final whistle went with the scores: Marists 17 College Rifles ' ..-13 •' Mr. J. Sweeney was referee.
