"THEY PICK UP MUGS."
TWO MEN SENT TO GAOL. "They pick up mugs and urge them to back certain horses," said Chief Detective Hammond in the Police Court this morning, when describing Alexander Wallace Copley, a labourer, aged 30, and John Richard Anderson, a labourer, aged 24, who were charged with being idle and disorderly persons and with consorting. The chief detective said that neither man did any work. Both had long lists for various offences. They spent their time "sorting out mugs." "Well/ this is the place you can't do that," said the magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt. "Three months each."
