OTAHTJHIT SAILING CLUB.

ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT.

The annual presentation of prizes won during the past season by the boats of the Otahuhu Sailing Club took place last evening in the Public Hall, Otahuhu. The gathering was largely attended. The commodore, Mr. C. Castle, before asking Mr. T. Clements, Mayor of Otahuhu, to present the trophies, said that races Avere held on eight days and competition was keen, although the entries were not as good as last eeason. Membership showed a small increase, arid the prospects for next season were better, as several new boats were coming to the district.

Mr. Clements congratulated the commodore, Mr. Castle, vice-commodore, Mr. N. Clark, hon. treasurer, Mr. W. R. Parkinson, and hon. secretary, Mr. E. Moller, on their good work in keeping the flag flying, and said he was pleased to learn that they would have several additions to their fleet. Many residents did not realise the fine sheet of water for sailing, outboard racing or rowing which existed above Panmure Bridge, where, with only one turn, a run of three miles -was possible. The club was the third oldest in Auckland, and several of the original members, including their pastcommodore, Mr. H. Fearnley, were still active workers.

The following were the principal prize winners:—December 7: R. E. Fenton's Tui, 1. December 14: Walker and Son's Phyllis H., 1. January 25: Tui, 1. February 8: Phyllis H., 1. March 8: P. Allen's Rival, 1. March 22: J. R. Morgan's Caprice, 1. April 26: Phyllis H., 1. May 3: W. R. Parkinson's Ventura and N. Clark's Omaki, dead heat. Walker and Son's Phyllis H. won the points flag. The euchre prize winners were: Mrs. Laundy 1, Mrs. Allison 2, Mr. W. Sotherafn 1, Mr. H. Fearnley 2. Monte Carlo waltz: Miss Phelan and Mr. Panckhurst. After supper dancing was indulged in until a late hour to the music of Grace's Orchestra.
