PRESENTATION.

Several volumes of essays were presented to Mr. J. H. Jaffrcy, headmaster of the Mangere district school on his leaving to take up the headmastership of the Kohimarama School. The gathering was presided over by Mi. M. B. Kirkbride, chairman of the school committee, who stated that Mr. Jaffrey had been at Mangere for 18 years. Several speakers, including Mr. S.' Rickards, member for the Manukau riding, spoke of the splendid manner in which Mr. Jaffrey had carried out his duties. He had been one of the most successful headmasters, his percentages of failures being very small considering the number of scholars who had passed through the school.
